Isoxaflutole, a synthetic isoxazole molecule, is used as a herbicide. It inhibits the enzyme 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD), which prevents pigment production and causes bleaching of the growing tissues of the target plants. Isoxaflutole regulates a broad range of bleaching, developing, or emerging weeds following pesticide absorption via the root system.
